ICAISA Hosts Webinar on Online Learning Standards

On August 27, 2020, ICAISA partnered with Global Online Academy and the New Jersey Association of Independent Schools to offer a webinar on the topic of developing and assessing accreditation standards for online learning. Lisa Campisi and Carole Everett of NJAIS began by outlining the process they used to develop an online learning standard for NJAIS schools. Some of the key elements involved scope, assessment, access, and alignment with a school's mission. Michael Nachbar, of Global Online Academy, then shared insights on high-quality online teaching and learning. He emphasized the importance of focusing on the learner outcomes.  He also shared some norms of practice including building trust, redefining time, and diversifying interactions. Attendees benefitted from learning about both the practical aspects and the theoretical underpinnings of quality online learning.
